Frequently asked questions about kitesurfing:

What is kitesurfing?

Kitesurfing is a relatively young fun sport in which the athlete lets himself/herself be pulled by a kite on a board with the power of the wind. The kite is steered using the bar. The surfer is connected to the kite via a harness through which the power of the kite is transmitted to the body. That's why kitesurfing doesn't require a lot of arm strength, but rather strength in your core.

How long will it take me to learn kitesurfing?

How long you need to learn kitesurfing depends on your individual skills and on the weather and spot conditions. We recommend planning at least three course days (3 x 3h duo course) to get started with kitesurfing. If you just want to try out whether kitesurfing is fun for you, one day of the course is sufficient.

What equipment do I need for kitesurfing?

For kitesurfing you need a kite, a bar, a board with bindings, a wetsuit, a harness, a leash and possibly neoprene shoes. In our training we also use impact  vests and helmets.

From how much wind can you kitesurf?

To fly stable in the sky, a kite needs 10-12 knots of constant wind. In our courses, we use special light-wind kites for the first few days of the course, in which we primarily practice kite control. These kites already fly from 6-8 knots of wind and enable us to offer effective beginner-lessons even with very little wind.

What happens if I have booked a kitesurf course and there is no wind?

The Nakskov Fjord not only offers good conditions for kitesurfing, but also for wind-independent sports such as SUP and kayaking. If your kitesurf course cannot take place due to wind and weather conditions, you can either use the value of your course fee for our SUP and kayak offers or catch up on your kitesurf lessons with us at a later date. If none of this is an option for you, we can refund you the remaining amount.

At what age can children learn to kitesurf?

When it comes to kitesurfing, it primarily depends on the weight of children. We offer courses for children weighing 45 kg or more. For children under the age of 12, we recommend training in a private course.

Can I book a Kitesurf Duo Course even if I register for it alone?

Yes! You do not need to bring a second person to book a DUO course. If we cannot find a second participant for your course, you will receive private lessons, whereby the course time will then be reduced.
